Revelation 13:1 (ESV)
The First Beast
I saw a beast rising out of the sea, with ten horns and seven heads, with ten diadems on its horns and blasphemous names on its heads.
with ten horns and seven heads, with ten diadems on its horns and
blasphemous names on its heads. 2 And the beast that I saw was like a leopard; its feet were like a bear’s, and its mouth was like a lion’s mouth. And to it the dragon gave his power and his throne and great authority. 3 One of its heads seemed
to have a mortal wound, but its mortal wound was healed, and the whole earth marveled as they followed the beast. 4 And they worshiped the dragon, for he had given his authority to the beast, and they worshiped the beast, saying, “Who is like the beast,
and who can fight against it?”
5 And the beast was given a mouth uttering haughty and blasphemous words, and it was allowed to exercise authority for forty-two months. 6 It opened its mouth to utter
blasphemies against God, blaspheming his name and his dwelling, that is, those who dwell in heaven. 7 Also it was allowed to make war on the saints and to conquer them. And authority was given it over every tribe and people and language and nation, 8 and all
who dwell on earth will worship it, everyone whose name has not been written before the foundation of the world in the book of life of the Lamb who was slain. 9 If anyone has an ear, let him hear:
10 If anyone is to be taken captive,
to captivity he goes; if anyone is to be slain with the sword,
with the sword must he be slain.
Here is a call for the endurance and faith of the saints.
When I was a kid growing up, I loved watching wrestling
on TV. The wrestling was fake, even obvious to me as a kid, however what they were doing was very dangerous and with it came a lot of injuries. Occasionally, fighters would join coalitions and have Tag-Team Fights where they could swap out when
needed. Well, this is basically what is going on. Satan has tapped out to the next fighter, the First Beast. Satan is over the Beast, but Satan let’s the First Beast step into the ring. The First Beast is a fighter, with a mouth
fouler than any WWE or WWF wrestler on TV. The First Beast (and I say First Beast because there will be another one), is uttering blasphemies against God and those who dwell in heaven, and the Church. It also is allowed to make war on the saints
and conquer them. The believers of coarse will not worship the beast, but the nonbelievers do. In fact, all worship the First Beast “whose name has not been written before the foundation of the world in the book of life of the lamb.”
This is interesting that The Book of Life is brought up here. If your name is in the Book of Life, then you go to Heaven. If your name is not in the Book of Life, then your not going to Heaven. Now many denominations today teach that “You
must accept Jesus Christ as your Lord and Savior so you can go to Heaven”. But Jesus says, “you did not choose me, I chose you.” In fact, what role do you have in your salvation when your name was “written before
the foundation of the world in the book of life of the Lamb who was slain.” While we can reject our Salvation as implied that our names can be removed from the Book of Life, we have no say when it comes to putting our name into the Book of Life.
I must admit that this is a tough understanding to come to grips, but it is the Biblical view. Notice that there are no altar calls in the Bible. Yet God uses us to plant the seeds of faith into the people. We don’t know who the elect
are, but God does and He works through us through the Great Commission. 2 Corinthians 5:18-20 also states this: “18 All this is from God, who through Christ reconciled us to himself and gave us the ministry of reconciliation; 19 that is, in
Christ God was reconciling the world to himself, not counting their trespasses against them, and entrusting to us the message of reconciliation. 20 Therefore, we are ambassadors for Christ, God making his appeal through us. We implore you on behalf of Christ,
be reconciled to God.” Is your name in the Book of Life? I think we need not worry about this, but have confidence in John 3:16 “For God so loved the world, that he gave his only Son, that whoever believes in him should not perish
but have eternal life.” If you believe this, then your name is in the Book of Life. Don’t worry, just believe. I pray: Lord help me to remain faithful unto the end. Help me to trust and live in the security of your promises.
I am a Child of God! I have been baptized and my sins washed away. And I believe in your life, death, and resurrection for the forgiveness of my sins. Thank you Lord for your plan of Salvation for me. Amen.
