Reading 1 John 2:7-14

The New Commandment
7 Beloved, I am writing you no new commandment, but an old commandment that you had from the beginning. The old commandment is the word that you have heard. 8 At the same time, it is a new commandment that I am writing to you, which is true in him and in you, because the darkness is passing away and the true light is already shining. 9 Whoever says he is in the light and hates his brother is still in darkness.

The new commandment is not new, but the same as the old: “love your neighbor as your self”.  The old is the same as the new, it is love.  You know there are a lot of Christians going around today displaying hate instead of love. We need to be careful of how we are seen by others, we want them to see love, not hate.  Jesus tells us to love our neighbors, but He also says to love our enemies.  My question is who does that leave for us to hate?  The answer is no one.  I pray that the Holy Spirit works in all of us to remove any and all forms of hate and to replace it with love.  Let our love shine as the light of Christ.
