Mark 14:51–52 (ESV)
A Young Man Flees
51 And a young man followed him, with nothing but a linen cloth about his
body. And they seized him, 52 but he left the linen cloth and ran away naked.
This is an obscure text that only appears in Mark. General consensus is that the young man is Mark (the Gospel writer).
We don’t know this for sure, but the Lutheran Study Bible state: Jesus is abandoned by His disciples, including a young man (possibly Mark) who has witnessed the arrest. We cannot count on our own courage or strength in the face of Satan and his forces.
Jesus accomplishes the plan of salvation without aid from any human ally.
I pray: Stand with me, Jesus, and grant me courage to withstand all temptations by which I might depart from Your good way. Amen.[1]
