Matthew 19:13-15
Let the Children Come to Me
13 Then
children were brought to him that he might lay his hands on them and pray. The disciples rebuked the people, 14 but Jesus said, “Let the little children come to me and do not hinder them, for to such belongs the kingdom
of heaven.” 15 And he laid his hands on them and went away. [1]
Jesus
welcomes children and makes it clear that they, too, have a place in the Kingdom. For a variety of reasons—some unavoidable and others the result of selfishness—many children today are not nurtured as they ought to be. Because of His special love
for children, Jesus not only allows children into His kingdom, but He also gives them pride of place!
I pray: Give us childlike simplicity, O Lord, so
that we not only love little ones as ourselves but also please You through our humility. Amen.
