Matthew 4:1 (ESV)

The Temptation of Jesus

Then Jesus was led up by the Spirit into the wilderness to be tempted by the devil.

Just one verse today and not much seems to be said, but that is not true.  It is interesting to note that it is the Holy Spirit that leads Jesus out into the Desert.  So simply put, God (Holy Spirit) is leading God (Jesus) into the wilderness.  Why?  “To be tempted by the devil.”  This reminds me that we pray in the Lord’s Prayer “Lead us not into Temptation”, but here we see God leading Jesus into temptation.  It goes to show us that Jesus was tempted by the devil.  Jesus knows what it is like and he still says no to the devil.

I pray: O Lord, help me and protect me from temptation and deliver me from evil.  Help me to say no, even when the temptation has me wanting to say yes.  Amen.

"Depart in Peace" What a blessing when the world is so chaotic! Followers of Christ can find their peace in Him.
