3 John 11–12 (ESV)
Support and Opposition
11 Beloved,
do not imitate evil but imitate good. Whoever does good is from God; whoever does evil has not seen God. 12 Demetrius has received a good testimony from everyone, and from the truth itself. We also add our testimony, and you
know that our testimony is true.
Today’s reading says to do not imitate evil. Christians were not to use their influence or position to gain personal
power in the congregation. The Church already has a supreme head, Christ. Believers serve Him and follow Him (cf Lk 22:24–27). We are to walk in the light, not in darkness.
I pray: O Lord help me to seek good and protect me from evil. Amen.
