From Pastor Perry

09/02/2018 2 Peter 1:1-2

2 Peter 1:1–2 (ESV)

1 Simeon Peter, a servant and apostle of Jesus Christ,

To those who have obtained a faith of equal standing with ours by the righteousness of our God and Savior Jesus Christ:

May grace and peace be multiplied to you in the knowledge of God and of Jesus our Lord.

Peter’s greeting identifies himself as a servant and an apostle of Jesus Christ.  It is one thing to be an apostle.  An apostle is a God-appointed teacher and leader for the New Testament churches.  To be a servant is to be a “slave” to Christ.  He is to serve Christ and has been purchased with His blood on the cross.  Peter does not want to have a superior faith to that of the disciples but wants them to have a faith equal to his… he wants them to grow in faith.

I pray:  O Lord, help me to grow in your Word and faith.  Let your Word shape and mold me according to your will.  Amen.

Look at the Words say they "fell away". The had it, but lost it. Just like the Bible says your name can be blotted out of the Book of Life.
