James 1:5–8 (ESV)
Testing of Your Faith
5 If
any of you lacks wisdom, let him ask God, who gives generously to all without reproach, and it will be given him. 6 But let him ask in faith, with no doubting, for the one who doubts is like a wave of the sea that is driven
and tossed by the wind. 7 For that person must not suppose that he will receive anything from the Lord; 8 he is a double-minded man, unstable in all his ways.
Notice that in asking God, we ask without doubting. But there is another verse that plays into this equation… and that is praying according to God’s will. We must remember
that in the Lord’s prayer, we pray “Thy will be done”… not My will be done. In 1 John 5:14–15: The Bible states 14 And this is the confidence that we have toward him, that if
we ask anything according to his will he hears us. 15 And if we know that he hears us in whatever we ask, we know that we have the requests that we have asked of him.
I pray: O Lord, help me to always trust and to always believe. Help me to seek your will, not mine. Amen.
