Hebrews 1:1–4 (ESV)
The Supremacy of God’s Son
1 Long ago, at many times and in many ways, God spoke to our fathers by the prophets, 2 but in these last days he has spoken to us by his Son, whom he appointed the heir of all things, through whom
also he created the world. 3 He is the radiance of the glory of God and the exact imprint of his nature, and he upholds the universe by the word of his power. After making purification for sins, he sat down at the right hand
of the Majesty on high, 4 having become as much superior to angels as the name he has inherited is more excellent than theirs.
We
don’t know who wrote the book of Hebrews, but we are pretty sure it was written before AD 70 because it does not mention the destruction of Jerusalem which happened in AD 70. The opening verses are extremely important. I know the Mormon church
has the Book of Mormon which they say supplements the Bible and adds to it. Well, today’s reading speaks against this and any other books or revelations that are to come. Reread this passage again: “Long ago, at many times and in many
ways, God spoke to our fathers by the prophets, 2 but in these last days he has spoken to us by his Son, whom he appointed the heir of all things, through whom also he created the world.” Jesus has fulfilled everything
and given us all we need to be saved.
I pray: O Lord, help me to trust your Word and not look for other outside revelations. Your Word and
your Son is our plan of Salvation. He has done everything needed. Amen.
