2 Timothy 1:15–18 (ESV)
15 You are aware that all who are in Asia turned away from me, among
whom are Phygelus and Hermogenes. 16 May the Lord grant mercy to the household of Onesiphorus, for he often refreshed me and was not ashamed of my chains, 17 but when he arrived in Rome he searched
for me earnestly and found me— 18 may the Lord grant him to find mercy from the Lord on that day!—and you well know all the service he rendered at Ephesus.
Paul does not discuss how some turned away from him which I think would be appropriate to say that they turned away from the faith. As a pastor, this keeps me up at night. It really hurts when I see people walk
away from the church. I feel like I have let them down. The church is not about me, but Jesus Christ. What is even worse is when they walk away from the faith. When they walk away from the faith, they walk away from God. If someone
leaves my congregation, I still pray that they will stay in the faith and still worship God at another congregation. I want them to go to heaven. But if they fall away from the faith… well, that is a loss. Like God, I want all men
to be saved.
I pray: O heavenly Father, help me to serve you in a God-pleasing way and I pray for all my sheep. Help them to stay together and under
your protection. Help me in guiding them. Amen.
