Ephesians 6:10–13 (ESV)
The Whole Armor of God
10 Finally, be strong in the Lord and in the strength of his might. 11 Put on the whole armor of God, that you may be able to stand against the schemes of the devil. 12 For
we do not wrestle against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the authorities, against the cosmic powers over this present darkness, against the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly places. 13 Therefore take
up the whole armor of God, that you may be able to withstand in the evil day, and having done all, to stand firm.
This passage needs to be broken down. The
armor of God is one of my favorite passages in Ephesians… well… in the Epistles. There is a major underlying question that is being asked. The question is “Why do we need to wear the Armor of God?” It is so that
we can stand against the schemes of the devil. It does not get simpler than that! Too often, we go into spiritual battle by ourselves and we should never do that. We go into spiritual battle with the Armor of God. So that when we do
battle, we are able to do battle… and in the end, still stand.
I pray: O Lord, help me to wear and use your
armor at all times. To let me be on guard and to trust you for my protection. Amen.
