Ephesians 5:22–24 (ESV)
Wives and Husbands
22 Wives,
submit to your own husbands, as to the Lord. 23 For the husband is the head of the wife even as Christ is the head of the church, his body, and is himself its Savior. 24 Now as the church submits
to Christ, so also wives should submit in everything to their husbands.
This is one of the most hated verses by women who feel it is repressive. As a male,
anything I say can and will be used against me! But I challenge the women to look at it through a different perspective. Today’s reading combined with tomorrow’s reading will help to make more sense
and take away the negativity. First of all, we need to see where this is coming from… Genesis. This concept goes all the way back to Adam and Eve. It is part of Eve’s punishment from God for going against God. Genesis 3:16
states:
16 To the woman he said,
“I will surely multiply your pain in childbearing;
in pain you shall bring forth children.
Your desire shall be
contrary to your husband,
but he shall rule over you.”
But there will be a real shift in thinking in tomorrow’s
reading.
I pray: O Lord, I know I have fallen short and my righteousness is as filthy rags. My hope is only in your life, death, and resurrection.
Lead me O Lord! Amen.
