Matthew 27:24–26 (ESV)

Pilate Delivers Jesus to Be Crucified

24 So when Pilate saw that he was gaining nothing, but rather that a riot was beginning, he took water and washed his hands before the crowd, saying, “I am innocent of this man’s blood; see to it yourselves.” 25 And all the people answered, “His blood be on us and on our children!” 26 Then he released for them Barabbas, and having scourged Jesus, delivered him to be crucified.

It is interesting that we are sinners and we deserve to go to hell… or like Barabbas, we need to be the one crucified.  Jesus was substituted for Barabbas’s life… Jesus thus substituted his life for mine.  Even more interesting is their statement “His blood be on us and on our children!”  Well… that is what happened!

I pray: O Lord, I know I have sinned and I repent.  Thank you for taking my sins to the cross, even though I do not deserve it or ask for it.  Thank you for all you have done for me.  Amen.

"Depart in Peace" What a blessing when the world is so chaotic! Followers of Christ can find their peace in Him.
