Matthew 26:1–5 (ESV)

The Plot to Kill Jesus

26 When Jesus had finished all these sayings, he said to his disciples, “You know that after two days the Passover is coming, and the Son of Man will be delivered up to be crucified.”

Then the chief priests and the elders of the people gathered in the palace of the high priest, whose name was Caiaphas, and plotted together in order to arrest Jesus by stealth and kill him. But they said, “Not during the feast, lest there be an uproar among the people.”

It is interesting that Jesus and “the chief priest and elders” are headed in the same direction… Jesus death.  They are plotting to kill Jesus and He is plotting to save the world.  Two different motives: one sinister and one salvific!  The plan of Salvation was for Jesus to come down from heaven, born of a virgin, suffer under Pontius Pilate, to die and be buried.  Jesus is living and carrying out the Second Article of the Apostles Creed.  He is doing it for you!

I pray: O Lord, I give thanks for your plan of salvation.  You used one party to carry out the plan of salvation… something they did not see coming.  I repent of my sins and want to do better.  Forgive me and restore me.  Amen.

Look at the Words say they "fell away". The had it, but lost it. Just like the Bible says your name can be blotted out of the Book of Life.
