Matthew 6:14–15 (ESV)

Lord’s Prayer (Part 3)

14 For if you forgive others their trespasses, your heavenly Father will also forgive you, 15 but if you do not forgive others their trespasses, neither will your Father forgive your trespasses.

As a Christian, part of our identity is forgiveness.  Jesus is teaching us that it is not an option, but we are called to be a forgiving people.  As God forgives us, we too are to forgive others.  This is tied to the Fifth Petition:  Forgive us our trespasses as we forgive those who trespass against us.  It is not a one-way street.  Forgiveness doesn’t always come easy, but we still are to be a forgiving people.

I pray: O Lord, I give thanks for forgiving me my sins.  Help me to forgive others as you have forgiven me.  Amen.

"Depart in Peace" What a blessing when the world is so chaotic! Followers of Christ can find their peace in Him.
