Matthew 3:1–3 (ESV)

John the Baptist Prepares the Way

3 In those days John the Baptist came preaching in the wilderness of Judea, “Repent, for the kingdom of heaven is at hand.” For this is he who was spoken of by the prophet Isaiah when he said,

      “The voice of one crying in the wilderness:

       ‘Prepare the way of the Lord;

make his paths straight.’ ”

John is the fulfillment of “the one crying in the wilderness.”  His message was simple: “Repent, for the kingdom of heaven is at hand.”  Such a simple message.  But what does “repent” mean?  To repent means to acknowledge that what you did was wrong (sorry) and to turn from that sin back to God (change).  I like to think about driving down the highway and you realize you are headed the wrong direction.  You must stop and turn around.

I pray: O Lord, help me to repent of my sins and to turn from my sins and focus on You.  Amen.

"Depart in Peace" What a blessing when the world is so chaotic! Followers of Christ can find their peace in Him.
