Genesis 39:1–6 (ESV)

Joseph and Potiphar’s Wife

39 Now Joseph had been brought down to Egypt, and Potiphar, an officer of Pharaoh, the captain of the guard, an Egyptian, had bought him from the Ishmaelites who had brought him down there. The Lord was with Joseph, and he became a successful man, and he was in the house of his Egyptian master. His master saw that the Lord was with him and that the Lord caused all that he did to succeed in his hands. So Joseph found favor in his sight and attended him, and he made him overseer of his house and put him in charge of all that he had. From the time that he made him overseer in his house and over all that he had, the Lord blessed the Egyptian’s house for Joseph’s sake; the blessing of the Lord was on all that he had, in house and field. So he left all that he had in Joseph’s charge, and because of him he had no concern about anything but the food he ate.

After reading about Judah and Tamar, it is interesting to start reading about Joseph is a man devoted to God.  The beauty of Joseph’s life is that we will see that even a man devoted to God will have a life that is a rollercoaster ride full of ups and downs.  But God works through the ups and downs… just as he did in Judah’s life.  But in today’s life, Joseph is sold to Potipher, an officer of Pharaoh, and Joseph became successful.  Joseph “found favor in his sight and attended him.”  Potipher trusted Joesph to the point of letting Joseph be in control (overseer) of his house.  Trust goes a long ways.  If trust is broken… it is hard to repair.  We need to remember this in regards to our wife, families, friends, and work.

I pray: O Lord help me to be a trustful person and to trust You in all my ways.  Help me to not only trust you, but to walk in your ways.  Amen.

Look at the Words say they "fell away". The had it, but lost it. Just like the Bible says your name can be blotted out of the Book of Life.
