Genesis 33:1–3 (ESV)
Jacob Meets Esau
33 And Jacob
lifted up his eyes and looked, and behold, Esau was coming, and four hundred men with him. So he divided the children among Leah and Rachel and the two female servants. 2 And he put the servants with their children in front, then Leah with
her children, and Rachel and Joseph last of all. 3 He himself went on before them, bowing himself to the ground seven times, until he came near to his brother.
I am quite sure that Jacob is filled with all kinds of emotions. Is he going to die? Are his wives going to die? Are his children going to die? Are all the men with him going to die? Has God intervened? Jacob
steps out in front of them and bows seven times… a sign of humbleness and servanthood. What is going to happen? I know a lot of people that are scared about dying and going before the Lord. Jesus promises that we are saved by faith…
by believing. The power to believe comes from God. “For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten son, that whoever believes in Him will not perish, but have eternal life.”
I pray: O Lord, help me to walk in your ways, trust the saving faith you have given me, and to come to you as a humble servant. Amen.
