Genesis 1:24–25 (ESV)
Creation of the World (Day 6-Part 1)
24 And God said, “Let the earth bring forth living creatures according to their kinds—livestock and creeping things and beasts of the earth according to their kinds.” And it was so. 25 And
God made the beasts of the earth according to their kinds and the livestock according to their kinds, and everything that creeps on the ground according to its kind. And God saw that it was good.
There is a lot going on in Day 6, so I will break it up in parts. The day begins with God creating the animals (of all kinds). Whether wild or domesticated. Whether
legged animals or snakes. This doesn’t mean that God created all varieties of dogs, but was probably one dog like a wolf with a pure genetic code. Their babies would come out different because of the pure genetic code. Cross breeding
is what brought about all the different breeds. God was pleased and saw that it was good. Luther made an interesting statement… that Adam (when created) would be able to communicate with the animals and to use them. I cannot substantiate
this claim biblically, but it is interesting. The animals did not fear man until after the flood.
I pray: O Lord, you made a motley crew of animals.
I give thanks for all of them. Some scare me more than others, but they are your creation. Help me to be a good steward of the earth and your creatures. Amen.
