Genesis 1:14–19 (ESV)
Creation of the World (Day 4)
14 And God said, “Let there be lights in the expanse of the heavens to separate the day from the night. And let them be for signs and for seasons, and for days and years, 15 and
let them be lights in the expanse of the heavens to give light upon the earth.” And it was so. 16 And God made the two great lights—the greater light to rule the day and the lesser light to rule
the night—and the stars. 17 And God set them in the expanse of the heavens to give light on the earth, 18 to rule over the day and over the night, and
to separate the light from the darkness. And God saw that it was good. 19 And there was evening and there was morning, the fourth day.
On the fourth day, God created the sun, moon, and stars. This provides a light source for day and night. I know I love to look at the stars and planets.
The details are much more than pin-holes in a piece of black paper. They are real and each one unique. They are scattered at various distances… most are beyond what our eye can see. Some are in clusters and some are orbiting each other-
2, 3, 4 or more stars. They are different colors and give off different radio frequencies. There are so many that they are beyond counting.
I pray:
If God put this much effort into the stars and planets… we should know that we too are different and a creation of God. We just have not been created in today’s reading. I give thanks for all that God did in preparing a place
for man to live. Amen.
