Revelation 18:4–6 (ESV)

The Fall of Babylon

Then I heard another voice from heaven saying,

       “Come out of her, my people,

lest you take part in her sins,

       lest you share in her plagues;

    for her sins are heaped high as heaven,

and God has remembered her iniquities.

    Pay her back as she herself has paid back others,

and repay her double for her deeds;

mix a double portion for her in the cup she mixed.

I have often said that when judgement day comes and the angels separate the sheep from the goats… all will acknowledge Jesus Christ as Lord.  But for many… it will be too late.  This is reflected in the today’s words.  When Babylon falls, it will be too late to separate oneself from the outpouring of God’s wrath. Luther states: “We must be on our guard against those who are thus given over to a wicked disposition, lest we share in their sin and perish together with them. Therefore in Revelation (18:4) the church is commanded to come out of Babylon; that is, we are commanded to leave the ungodly” (AE 3:285).

I pray: O Lord, help us to wait patiently for when you come.  It will be like a thief in the night when many are not expecting.  Help me to wait patiently for your Second Coming.  Amen.

Look at the Words say they "fell away". The had it, but lost it. Just like the Bible says your name can be blotted out of the Book of Life.
