Revelation 8:10–11 (ESV)

The Seven Trumpets

10 The third angel blew his trumpet, and a great star fell from heaven, blazing like a torch, and it fell on a third of the rivers and on the springs of water. 11 The name of the star is Wormwood. A third of the waters became wormwood, and many people died from the water, because it had been made bitter.

John sees in the revelation a meteor coming from the sky/heaven and it hits a third of the rivers and springs.  It is affecting fresh water as opposed to the sea.  The falling star has a name “Wormwood.”  The people are no longer able to drink from these rivers.  This reminds us of the Gospel writer Mark who states: “25and the stars will be falling from heaven, and the powers in the heavens will be shaken.”[Mark 13:25]  God is in control.

I pray: O Lord, in that day, it will not be good to be around, however… help us to always cling to your saving faith.  Help us to endure unto the end.  Amen.

Look at the Words say they "fell away". The had it, but lost it. Just like the Bible says your name can be blotted out of the Book of Life.
