Revelation 6:1–2 (ESV)
The Seven Seals (Part 1)
6Now I watched when the Lamb opened one of the seven seals, and I heard one of the four living creatures say with a voice like thunder, “Come!” 2And I looked, and behold,
a white horse! And its rider had a bow, and a crown was given to him, and he came out conquering, and to conquer.
Many try to interpret the white horse as
Christ. We need to remember that Christ is already in the passage as “the Lamb” who opened one of the seven seals. So it is not Jesus. Also, there are four horses in Chapter 6 and they all wreak havoc. The Lutheran Study
Bibles states “Accordingly, the rider on this white horse should be taken as a symbol of mankind’s insatiable hunger for power and its penchant for aggression.” More horsemen are coming!
I pray: O Lord, help me to be meek in power and to trust you, for you are all powerful. When I try to exert power, things get messed up. Forgive me and help me to follow your ways. Amen.
