Matthew 20:29–34 (ESV)
Jesus Heals Two Blind Men
as they went out of Jericho, a great crowd followed him. 30 And behold, there were two blind men sitting by the roadside, and when they heard that Jesus was passing by, they cried out, “Lord, have mercy on us, Son of David!” 31 The
crowd rebuked them, telling them to be silent, but they cried out all the more, “Lord, have mercy on us, Son of David!” 32 And stopping, Jesus called them and said, “What do you want me to do for you?” 33 They
said to him, “Lord, let our eyes be opened.” 34 And Jesus in pity touched their eyes, and immediately they recovered their sight and followed him.
Jesus heals two blind men. Jesus’ question is simple to them: “What do you want me to do for you?” They said “Lord, let our eyes be opened.” Jesus healed them. I will say this, there are many seeing
eyes that are blind. Many people can look at a house and see a house. They can look at a waterfall and see a waterfall. They can look at Jesus and see a man. This is where seeing eyes are… well… blind. It is
true that Jesus was 100% man, but he was also 100% God. They look at Jesus and they do not see God. This is terrible.
I pray: O Lord, let my seeing eyes see you as who you really
are… the Son of God. Help me to never be blind to your true identity. Amen.
