Matthew 13:47–50 (ESV)
The Parable of the Net
47 “Again, the kingdom of heaven is like a net that was thrown into the sea and gathered fish of every kind. 48 When it was full, men drew it ashore and sat down and sorted the good into containers but threw away
the bad. 49 So it will be at the end of the age. The angels will come out and separate the evil from the righteous 50 and throw them into the fiery furnace. In that place there will be weeping and gnashing of teeth.
Again, Jesus gives us a parable about the kingdom of heaven and the Final Judgement. In the parable of the weeds, the weeds grew along with the good seed. Both
coexisted alongside one another. In this fallen world, Christians and non-Christians are living and working together while here on earth. But the time is coming where the good is separated from the bad… which is the focus on today’s
parable. On the final day (Judgement Day), the good are separated from the bad. What is the difference between the two? It is faith! Do you believe or not believe? There is not a kind-of-sort-of… but the judge is not man,
but God. Not everyone goes to heaven, only those who believe.
