Matthew 10:26–33 (ESV)
Have No Fear
have no fear of them, for nothing is covered that will not be revealed, or hidden that will not be known. 27 What I tell you in the dark, say in the light, and what you hear whispered, proclaim on the housetops. 28 And
do not fear those who kill the body but cannot kill the soul. Rather fear him who can destroy both soul and body in hell. 29 Are not two sparrows sold for a penny? And not one of them will fall to the ground apart from your
Father. 30 But even the hairs of your head are all numbered. 31 Fear not, therefore; you are of more value than many sparrows. 32 So everyone who acknowledges
me before men, I also will acknowledge before my Father who is in heaven, 33 but whoever denies me before men, I also will deny before my Father who is in heaven.
In the last two days of readings, the focus has been on persecution. Today, Matthew writes “so have no fear of them.” We often let fear control us or alter our course. As a Christian, we should “have
no fear” about proclaiming Jesus through our words and actions. Our actions should show our love. But today is focused more on words and telling others. Jesus states “32 So everyone who acknowledges
me before men, I also will acknowledge before my Father who is in heaven, 33 but whoever denies me before men, I also will deny before my Father who is in heaven.” So I encourage you to share your faith, not only
with actions, but with words. You can start with a spouse, family member, or friend. But, we should have no fear to “acknowledge Jesus before men” which means we are to acknowledge Jesus before the world. I know that for many,
this may put you in an uncomfortable position, but I give you the words of Jesus… “So have no fear of them.” Yes, some will reject your message, but you still planted a seed of faith in them.
I pray: O Lord, help me to acknowledge You before men and to have no fear over those that I share Jesus. Help me to plant the seeds of faith, and to do it boldly. Help me to step out of my comfort zone.
