Matthew 9:27–31 (ESV)

Jesus Heals Two Blind Men

27 And as Jesus passed on from there, two blind men followed him, crying aloud, “Have mercy on us, Son of David.” 28 When he entered the house, the blind men came to him, and Jesus said to them, “Do you believe that I am able to do this?” They said to him, “Yes, Lord.” 29 Then he touched their eyes, saying, “According to your faith be it done to you.” 30 And their eyes were opened. And Jesus sternly warned them, “See that no one knows about it.” 31 But they went away and spread his fame through all that district.

These two blind guys are “crying aloud” for Jesus to “have mercy on us.”  They also correctly call him Son of David.  He is a descendant of David, that is why Mary and Joseph went to Bethlehem, the City of David, to be counted in the census.  While there, Jesus was born.  He is Son of David, but also Son of God.  Jesus did have mercy on them.  When they were healed, they were so excited that they had to go and tell everybody!  They were excited!  When was the last time you jumped up and down in excitement?  Was is for your favorite sports team… or was it for Jesus???

I pray: O Lord, you do excite me!  Your Word is a lamp unto my feet.  I really do want to run and tell everybody.  Lord, I just wish I could maintain the excitement all the time.  Help me to plant the seeds of faith all the time.  Amen.
