The Authority of Jesus
And when Jesus finished these sayings, the crowds were astonished at his teaching, for he was teaching
them as one who had authority, and not as their scribes.
This a short verse, but what does it mean when it says "when Jesus finished these sayings?" Well, yesterday wrapped up the Sermon
on the Mount. It started with the beatitudes in chapter 5 and the sermon continues through chapter 6 and chapter 7. It was a really long sermon. If my congregation listened to all of Jesus's Sermon on the Mount, they probably would never
complain about my sermon length. I really don't mind having shorter sermons than Jesus, I just wished the congregation astonished. Well, I am not Jesus, but I do teach and preach his teachings. I must admit that the Bible is astonishing.
I hunger and thirst for God's. My hunger and thirst leads me to study the Bible daily. Today marks the third birthday of this website. Three years ago, I decided to start journaling my daily readings and sharing them with whoever wants
to read them on the internet. Truth be told, I expected to have about 10,000 hits after three years. I have been majorly shocked at the current hits being over 227,000 hits. I am humbled and thank you for your support. I look forward
to continuing this website to share the Word of God.
I pray: O Lord, I am still astonished at your Word and I pray that I will always hunger and thirst for them. I thank you for
your precious gifts of faith, forgiveness, eternal life, and salvation. Amen.
