Build Your House on the Rock
“Everyone then who hears these words of mine and does them will be like
a wise man who built his house on the rock. And the rain fell, and the floods came, and the winds blew and beat on that house, but it did not fall, because it had been founded on the rock. And everyone who hears these words of mine and does not do them will
be like a foolish man who built his house on the sand. And the rain fell, and the floods came, and the winds blew and beat against that house, and it fell, and great was the fall of it.”
passage is very dear to me. When I attended Baylor University in 1981, we had Bible studies in the dorm. It was very rewarding and challenging. They would ask me what I believed and then they would ask for me to back it up with the Bible.
Truth be told, I didn't know where to even begin to find what I thought the Bible stated. It shook me to the core of my belief, and I realized that my faith was built on a sandy foundation. I met their challenge by reading the reading the
Bible daily... and I read the whole Bible from cover to cover my freshmen year. It was life changing. I was a Christian before, but now my faith was based on a solid foundation of God's Word. Little did I know that this foundation would lead
me into the ministry on down the road. This is the very purpose of this website, to teach God's Word and to help you build your faith on the solid foundation of God's Word.
I pray: O
Lord, I give thanks for the faith you have given me and for the hunger and thirst for your Word. Help me to continue being spiritually fed through your Word. Help others to hunger and thirst for your Word too! Amen.
