I Never Knew You
“Not everyone who says to me, ‘Lord, Lord,’ will enter the kingdom of heaven, but the one who does the will of my Father who is in heaven. On that day many will say to me, ‘Lord, Lord, did we not prophesy
in your name, and cast out demons in your name, and do many mighty works in your name?’ And then will I declare to them, ‘I never knew you; depart from me, you workers of lawlessness.’
Not everyone who thinks they are
going to heaven will be going to heaven. Notice what the focus is on for those who did not receive the kingdom of heaven. It was on works. "Lord, Lord, did we not prophesy in your name, and cast out demons in your name, and do many mighty
works in your name?" We are not saved by our works, but by faith. We can never earn our way into heaven. The cost was paid by Jesus virgin birth, perfect life, death, and resurrection. He earned it for us. He substituted his perfect
life for our sinful life. We are saved by faith alone.
I pray: “Lord, when I appear before Your throne, Your righteousness shall be my crown.” Amen.
