Matthew 6:16-19

“And when you fast, do not look gloomy like the hypocrites, for they disfigure their faces that their fasting may be seen by others. Truly, I say to you, they have received their reward. But when you fast, anoint your head and wash your face, that your fasting may not be seen by others but by your Father who is in secret. And your Father who sees in secret will reward you.

There are those who are dramatic fasters and those that are not.  When it comes down to it, nobody should know that your are fasting.  It's not something you advertise to the world, or tell everyone through twitter, facebook, snapchat, or whatever.  So some of you may be asking what the Bible says about fasting... well... you just read it. It is something that you do with the Lord, and the Lord only.  You don't have to fast, but we can if we so choose.

I pray: O Lord, too often we do things and want to be seen by others.  Help us to not build our relationship based on what others think, but on how we relate to you.  Amen.
