Salt and Light
are the salt of the earth, but if salt has lost its taste, how shall its saltiness be restored? It is no longer good for anything except to be thrown out and trampled under people’s feet.
“You are the
light of the world. A city set on a hill cannot be hidden. Nor do people light a lamp and put it under a basket, but on a stand, and it gives light to all in the house. In the same way, let your light shine before others, so that they may see your good works
and give glory to your Father who is in heaven.
I don't know of any cook that can do without salt and pepper. The compliment each other with contrasting flavors. Salt not only enhances
the flavor of food, but it also can work as a preservative. Salt and pepper make food come alive with flavor! If salt lost it's taste, then what good would it be? Who would want it? I love to cook and love using many different types
of spices. One of the best ways to spice meat, poultry, fish, or lamb is with spices that have been around... well, forever! Rub the meat with olive oil and sprinkle salt and pepper, then grill it. This method is still one of the most preferred
cooking of proteins even today. Jesus also speaks about light. Darkness cannot cover light, but light exposes darkness. Jesus is the light of the world and we are to let the light of Christ shine! As Christians, we are not to lose our
saltiness or hide the light of Christ. We need to be of use to Christ, that is to be salty and full of light.
I pray: O Lord, I know that I am saved by grace, but help me to carry out your will.
Thy will be done! Mold me and shape me so that I can flavor the world with Christ and let the light of Christ shine. Amen.
