Matthew 4:12-17

Jesus Begins His Ministry
Now when he heard that John had been arrested, he withdrew into Galilee. And leaving Nazareth he went and lived in Capernaum by the sea, in the territory of Zebulun and Naphtali, so that what was spoken by the prophet Isaiah might be fulfilled:
“The land of Zebulun and the land of Naphtali,
the way of the sea, beyond the Jordan, Galilee of the Gentiles—
the people dwelling in darkness
have seen a great light,
and for those dwelling in the region and shadow of death,
on them a light has dawned.”
From that time Jesus began to preach, saying, “Repent, for the kingdom of heaven is at hand.”

The prophet Isaiah prophecied that the Messiah would come out of the land of Zebulun and the land of Napthali.  Well, Jesus has lived there, and thus fulfills the Isaiah prophecy.  Jesus is that "Great Light".  But listen to the message that the Messiah brings: "Repent, for the kingdom of heaven is at hand."  We are to repent which means to stop doing what is wrong and turn from our wicked ways.  It is not repentance if you say I'm sorry... but I not going to change.  Repentance is sorry with change.  That doesn't mean we won't trip and fall, but we do not willfully continue living in sinful ways.

I pray: O Lord, I am sorry for my sins and I want to do better.  I repent and want to change.  Forgive me of my sins and help me to live according to Your will.  Amen.

"Depart in Peace" What a blessing when the world is so chaotic! Followers of Christ can find their peace in Him.
