Matthew 4:8-11
The Temptation of Jesus (Part 3)
Again, the devil took him to a very high mountain and showed him all the kingdoms of the world and their glory. And he said to him, “All these I will give you, if you will fall down and worship me.” Then Jesus said to him, “Be
gone, Satan! For it is written,
“ ‘You shall worship the Lord your God
and him only shall you serve.’ ”
Then the devil left him, and behold, angels came and were ministering to him.
The third temptation is about power and authority. I mean, who wouldn't
want to be a King and have his own kingdom. I find it ironic that the devil is tempting the Creator of the World. All Jesus has to do is bow down and worship the devil. What is ironic is that when Jesus returns, every knee will bow and every tongue
confess that Jesus Christ is Lord. Where we need to be concerned is that if Satan will go after Jesus, he certainly will go after you and me.
I pray: O Lord, please protect me from
seeking power and authority. Help me to turn to you as the Almighty, All-powerful, and All-Authority... the Creator of the World. You have a plan of Salvation and you have forgiven me all my sins and given me eternal life. What more do I
need? My cup runneth over. Amen.
