Matt. 2:16-18

Herod Kills the Children
Then Herod, when he saw that he had been tricked by the wise men, became furious, and he sent and killed all the male children in Bethlehem and in all that region who were two years old or under, according to the time that he had ascertained from the wise men. Then was fulfilled what was spoken by the prophet Jeremiah:
“A voice was heard in Ramah,
weeping and loud lamentation,
Rachel weeping for her children;
she refused to be comforted, because they are no more.”

Now, what if Joseph had went back to sleep and left the first thing in the morning?  Well... I do believe that God is in control and Jesus would have been protected, but we see that Joseph's quick reaction was not in vain.  Herod was a lunatic king and did not want another king.  So much so that he had all the children in that age bracket killed so that Jesus would be eliminated.  Problem with Herod's plan is that God IS in control and provided saftey for Jesus.  We see how evil Herod really is... and to think he told the wise guys to come and tell him where the child is so he could go and worship him.  Yea, right!  We see your true colors!  Joseph is to be applauded for his listening and obeying the angel's commands.

I pray:  O Lord, help me to not procrastinate, but to follow your guidance.  To often I want to do things on my schedule and not yours.  Forgive me Lord as I pray "Thy will be done."  Amen.
