1 Peter 4:7–11 (ESV)
Steward’s of God’s Grace
7
The end of all things is at hand; therefore be self-controlled and sober-minded for the sake of your prayers. 8 Above all, keep loving one another earnestly, since love covers a multitude of sins. 9 Show hospitality to one another without grumbling. 10 As
each has received a gift, use it to serve one another, as good stewards of God’s varied grace: 11 whoever speaks, as one who speaks oracles of God; whoever serves, as one who serves by the strength that God supplies—in order that in everything
God may be glorified through Jesus Christ. To him belong glory and dominion forever and ever. Amen.
Again, Peter is listing out how we are to live. We don’t live for ourselves, but for others
and for God. We are to be self-controlled and sober-minded. We need to be sharp and focused minded. When he writes “8 Above all, keep loving one another earnestly, since love covers a multitude of sins.” We are to love one
another. This is focusing on the 4th, 5th, 6th, 7th, 8th, 9th, and 10th Commandments, which focus on our neighbors. My summary of verses 9-11 is to do everything to the Glory of God.
I pray: O
Lord, too often, I focus on my self instead of focusing on others. It is easy to get caught up in the poor pitiful me’s or what about me. Help me to live my life for You and for others. Help me to “keep loving one another earnestly.”
Amen.
