1 Peter 1:10–12 (ESV)
Born Again to a Living Hope (Part 2)
this salvation, the prophets who prophesied about the grace that was to be yours searched and inquired carefully, 11 inquiring what person or time the Spirit of Christ in them was indicating when he predicted the sufferings of Christ and the subsequent glories.
12 It was revealed to them that they were serving not themselves but you, in the things that have now been announced to you through those who preached the good news to you by the Holy Spirit sent from heaven, things into which angels long to look.
This passage is actually talking about Christ in the Old Testament. This is a clue that Christ is began to be presented in the Old Testament through Holy Spirit. I remember one of my professors, Dr. David Scaer, said that
where ever you see Jesus, you see the Holy Spirit. This also means that where ever you see the Holy Spirit, you see Jesus. The Formula of Concord: Solid Declaration states: “The Spirit is and remains Christ’s [1 Peter 1:11] and the Father’s
own Spirit to all eternity, not separated from God’s Son.… The entire fullness of the Spirit has been communicated by the personal union to Christ according to the flesh, which is personally united with God’s Son” (FC SD VIII 73).
We see Trinity present from Genesis all the way to Revelation. But Christ is revealed.
I pray: O Heavenly Father, I give thank for your plan of Salvation, going all the way back to the fall... you set your
plan into action. That plan was finalized on the cross and you raising Him up from the dead. You did this for us, and you have set those who repent of their sins and believe in Jesus as our Savior. Thank you, Lord. Amen.
