James 4:13–17 (ESV)
Boasting About Tomorrow
13 Come now, you who say, “Today or tomorrow we will go into such and such a town and spend a year there and trade and make a profit”— 14 yet you do not know what tomorrow will bring. What is your life? For you are a mist that appears for a little time and then vanishes. 15 Instead you ought to say, “If the Lord wills, we will live and do this or that.” 16 As it is, you boast in your arrogance. All such boasting is evil. 17 So whoever knows the right thing to do and fails to do it, for him it is sin.

When I read today’s reading, it reminds me of Matthew 6:34 “Therefore do not worry about tomorrow, for tomorrow will worry about itself. Each day has enough trouble of its own.”  So don’t worry about tomorrow, because we don’t know what is going to happen.  A pastor used to end all his statements “Lord willing!”   If the Lord wants it to happen, then it will happen.  If the Lord wants something different, then that will happen.

I pray: O Lord, help me to trust you to set my schedule and to not worry about tomorrow.  Help me to take each day as it comes.  Amen.

Look at the Words say they "fell away". The had it, but lost it. Just like the Bible says your name can be blotted out of the Book of Life.
