James 2:8–13 (ESV)
The Sin of Partiality
8 If you really fulfill the royal law according to the Scripture, “You shall love your neighbor as yourself,” you are doing well. 9 But if you show partiality, you are committing sin and are convicted by the law as transgressors. 10 For whoever keeps the whole law but fails in one point has become accountable for all of it. 11 For he who said, “Do not commit adultery,” also said, “Do not murder.” If you do not commit adultery but do murder, you have become a transgressor of the law. 12 So speak and so act as those who are to be judged under the law of liberty. 13 For judgment is without mercy to one who has shown no mercy. Mercy triumphs over judgment.

I know I have often mentioned that sin blocks us from going to heaven. All it takes is one sin, and unfortunately... we are born with original sin. It is literally impossible for us to get into heaven on our own. We are sinners and fall short. We can never live a life and be “good enough” to get into heaven. Well, part of what I say comes from today’s reading which states: “9 But if you show partiality, you are committing sin and are convicted by the law as transgressors. 10 For whoever keeps the whole law but fails in one point has become accountable for all of it.” If you break law... you are guilty! “11 For he who said, “Do not commit adultery,” also said, “Do not murder.” If you do not commit adultery but do murder, you have become a transgressor of the law.” The law condemns us, but the gospel saves us. What is the gospel? The gospel is God’s plan of salvation, that is... His plan of saving YOU. That plan was carried out by Jesus Christ, the Messiah! His virgin birth, life, death, and resurrection from the dead, was fulfilling God’s plan of forgiving you your sins and restoring you into the Kingdom of God. All this was done outside of yourself. It is even God who gives you faith. Thanks be to God!

I pray: O heavenly Father, I give thanks for your plan of salvation. You are my only hope, since I am a sinner. You bring me faith, forgiveness, eternal life, and my salvation. I humbly give thanks for everything you have done for me. Amen.

Look at the Words say they "fell away". The had it, but lost it. Just like the Bible says your name can be blotted out of the Book of Life.
