Hebrews 11:11–12 (ESV)
Heroes of Faith
11 By faith Sarah herself
received power to conceive, even when she was past the age, since she considered him faithful who had promised. 12 Therefore from one man, and him as good as dead, were born descendants as many as the stars of heaven and as many as the innumerable grains of
sand by the seashore.
At first, Sarah laughed at the mentioning that she would have Abraham’s child. But she would quickly come to believe after God grants her a child. She believed before,
but she obviously doubted when she heard God’s plan. We often do the same thing. We believe in Jesus, yet we limit his power or maybe even cast doubts on the power of prayer. When God steps in, we will know. This reminds me of
the Second Coming, where “every knee shall bow and every tongue confess that Jesus Christ is Lord.”
I pray: O Lord, we often doubt much like Sarah. Yet you worked through a woman that
was past child bearing age to bring about a child. Lord, you show us your awesome power to accomplish the impossible, even through Sarah. Amen.
