Hebrews 2:14–18 (ESV)
The Founder of Salvation
14 Since therefore
the children share in flesh and blood, he himself likewise partook of the same things, that through death he might destroy the one who has the power of death, that is, the devil, 15 and deliver all those who through fear of death were subject to lifelong slavery.
16 For surely it is not angels that he helps, but he helps the offspring of Abraham. 17 Therefore he had to be made like his brothers in every respect, so that he might become a merciful and faithful high priest in the service of God, to make propitiation
for the sins of the people. 18 For because he himself has suffered when tempted, he is able to help those who are being tempted.
Jesus was tempted in every way that we are tempted. He was human and
went through everything we go through. Jesus had to face all the challenges of the devil. The devil especially went after Jesus in the three temptations and again in the Garden of Gethsemane. Jesus has been in your shoes and mine. He
has been there, done that, and got the T-Shirt. When we pray to God, we need not tell Jesus that He doesn’t know what we are going through... oh yes he does!!! So we can take all of our joys and concerns to Jesus, who is a God of compassion.
He loves us and will help us through our tribulations and lead us to Heaven.
I pray: O Lord, too often we get caught up in our own problems and we forget that you have been through it all... even to
death. Your love for me is overwhelming and I know that you care about me. Thank you for everything you have done for me, especially the gift of faith, the forgiveness of sins, and eternal life. Amen.
