Hebrews 2:8–9 (ESV)
The Founder of Salvation
8 putting everything in subjection under his feet.”
Now in putting everything in subjection to him, he left nothing outside his control. At present, we do not yet see everything
in subjection to him. 9 But we see him who for a little while was made lower than the angels, namely Jesus, crowned with glory and honor because of the suffering of death, so that by the grace of God he might taste death for everyone.
In yesterday’s reading, we discussed Jesus withholding or refraining from using his Divine nature. We see this again in today’s reading. Yet, we see in verse 8: “At present, we do not yet see everything
in subjection to him.” It is only by faith that we can put another human over our own life... because it is only through faith that we see Jesus as more than just a man. He is God. A man alone (without the Divine nature) cannot be “crowned
with glory and honor because of the suffering of death.” We are sinners and fall short of the glory of God. Only God’s Son was raised from the dead. His resurrection is our resurrection.
I pray: O Lord, I give thanks for your perfect life, death, and resurrection. I give thanks that God raised you up from the dead for the forgiveness of sins. You tasted death for everyone and bring forgiveness to all the world.
That, I am forever thankful. Amen.
