2 Timothy 3:1–9 (ESV)
Godlessness in the Last Days
3 But understand
this, that in the last days there will come times of difficulty. 2 For people will be lovers of self, lovers of money, proud, arrogant, abusive, disobedient to their parents, ungrateful, unholy, 3 heartless, unappeasable, slanderous, without self-control,
brutal, not loving good, 4 treacherous, reckless, swollen with conceit, lovers of pleasure rather than lovers of God, 5 having the appearance of godliness, but denying its power. Avoid such people. 6 For among them are those who creep into households and capture
weak women, burdened with sins and led astray by various passions, 7 always learning and never able to arrive at a knowledge of the truth. 8 Just as Jannes and Jambres opposed Moses, so these men also oppose the truth, men corrupted in mind and disqualified
regarding the faith. 9 But they will not get very far, for their folly will be plain to all, as was that of those two men.
Folks, I don’t know how to say this any clearer than today’s text in
that things are going to get worse before the Second Coming of Christ. I hear Christians complain and say that the world is in chaos and we need peace. Sorry folks, I’m looking for things to get worse, because that means that we are getting
closer to Jesus’ return. If you are wanting the chaos to go away so that you can live in peace... you seek the wrong peace. Peace is only found in Jesus Christ who helps you to get through the chaos and having the peace of mind in knowing
that you are saved, even if you die today! Heaven is your home! We do not have to take part in the chaos, no... we don’t want any part of it. We act like Christians even in chaos. Chaos is not our friend, but Jesus is our guide.
I pray: O Lord, it is easy to be led astray into sin. We pray for your protection! Lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil, for thine is the Kingdom, and the Power, and the Glory forever,
Amen.
