Colossians 3:18–25 (ESV)
Rules for Christian Households
18 Wives, submit to your husbands, as is fitting in the Lord. 19 Husbands, love your wives, and do not be harsh with them. 20 Children, obey your parents in everything, for this pleases the Lord. 21 Fathers, do not provoke your children, lest they become discouraged. 22 Bondservants, obey in everything those who are your earthly masters, not by way of eye-service, as people-pleasers, but with sincerity of heart, fearing the Lord. 23 Whatever you do, work heartily, as for the Lord and not for men, 24 knowing that from the Lord you will receive the inheritance as your reward. You are serving the Lord Christ. 25 For the wrongdoer will be paid back for the wrong he has done, and there is no partiality.

There are so many broken households in this world, that it is viewed as normal.  Yet broken households have had their toll on family relationships.  It’s hard on the husband and wife when they go through a divorce.  The children hardly ever come out unscathed.  There is often so much fighting that fighting is viewed as “love” or has confused what is “love.”  Here is some simple Biblical advise for Christian Households.  Wives, submit to your husbands, as is fitting in the Lord.  I know that this is not easy and most women hate these words.  I want to remind you that in the beginning, this was NOT the design, but is a punishment place on women from Eve’s sin in the Garden.  In fact, let’s take a little review from Genesis 3:16: “To the woman he said, “I will surely multiply your pain in childbearing; in pain you shall bring forth children.  Your desire shall be for your husband, and he shall rule over you.”  You catch that last part?  “He shall rule over you!”   Yea! That part!  A household can only have one leader, and God places that responsibility on the man.  I’m not a male chauvinist, just going by the Bible.  Husband, you are to love your wife... and NOT treat them harshly!  That does not mean we are to be dictators or Lord over our wife.  We are to be a servant to her (1 Cor 13).   Children are to obey their parents.  This is the Fourth Commandment.  In whatever you do.... husbands, wives, children... do it for the Lord.  We are not here to please each other, but to please God.  If God is happy, then probably Mama and the children are happy!  So... what is the problem with families today??? Well, it the same old problem of sin!  This is were the father redirect the family back to God for the forgiveness of sin.

I pray: O Lord, I pray that you bless our families and continue to shape us and mold us according to your will.  Help us to submit to you, to get along with each other, to forgive each other and to focus on our future with you.  In Jesus Christ name I pray, Amen.
