Colossians 2:16–19 (ESV)
Let No One Disqualify You
16 Therefore let no one pass judgment on you in questions of food and drink, or with regard to a festival or a new moon or a Sabbath. 17 These are a shadow of the things to come, but the substance belongs to Christ. 18 Let no one disqualify you, insisting
on asceticism and worship of angels, going on in detail about visions, puffed up without reason by his sensuous mind, 19 and not holding fast to the Head, from whom the whole body, nourished and knit together through its joints and ligaments, grows with a
growth that is from God.
I have always said “Don’t let anyone come between you and Christ!” People will get in all sorts of religious and/or philosophical arguments and will try
to challenge your thinking and who you are. Build your faith on the Word of God and let that be your foundation. I know I have had Seventh Day Adventist try to tell me that we are going to hell because we do not worship on the Sabbath. I
quickly point them to today’s text “let no one pass judgment on you in questions of food and drink, or with regard to a festival or a new moon or a Sabbath.” We worship on Sunday because that is the day that Jesus rose from the dead.
It is called the Lord’s Day. The early church also met on the Lord’s day. We are saved by God’s grace, not by the Law.
I pray: O Lord, help me to hold firm to your Word,
using your Word as my sure foundation. Amen.
