Romans 12:18–21 (ESV)
Marks of the True Christian
18 If possible, so far as it depends on you, live peaceably with all. 19 Beloved, never avenge yourselves, but leave it to the wrath of God, for it is written, “Vengeance is mine, I will repay, says the Lord.” 20 To the contrary, “if
your enemy is hungry, feed him; if he is thirsty, give him something to drink; for by so doing you will heap burning coals on his head.” 21 Do not be overcome by evil, but overcome evil with good.
tells us to live peaceably with all. To live peaceably means to not argue, fight, belittle, ... but to get along peaceably. This means with your wife. This means with your children. This means your coworkers. This means your friends.
All these are part of living peaceably “with all.” “All” also includes your enemies. If we live peaceably with all, then we don’t need to worry about vengeance. That belongs to the Lord! Living peaceably
with all IS a witness to all. Believe me, people are watching you!
I pray: O Lord, help me to live peaceably with all. Help me to be a better witness. Forgive me when I seek
vengeance instead of peace. Help me to leave vengeance to you. Amen.
