Life in the Spirit
8 There is therefore now no condemnation
for those who are in Christ Jesus. 2 For the law of the Spirit of life has set you free in Christ Jesus from the law of sin and death. 3 For God has done what the law, weakened by the flesh, could not do. By sending his own Son in the likeness of sinful flesh
and for sin, he condemned sin in the flesh, 4 in order that the righteous requirement of the law might be fulfilled in us, who walk not according to the flesh but according to the Spirit. 5 For those who live according to the flesh set their minds on the things
of the flesh, but those who live according to the Spirit set their minds on the things of the Spirit. 6 For to set the mind on the flesh is death, but to set the mind on the Spirit is life and peace. 7 For the mind that is set on the flesh is hostile to God,
for it does not submit to God’s law; indeed, it cannot. 8 Those who are in the flesh cannot please God.
We live with guilt because we know that we have sinned and fell short. The hardest concept
to get is that Christ has free and you are not condemned for your sins. To be honest, we just sit here and think why??? I remember a generous act of kindness that really impacted me. My family was coming home from vacation and still had about
an hour to go when I had a blow out. It was pouring down rain and my family of 5 were in the van. I got out and started unloading some stuff when a guy in a pickup truck pulled up. He was a big oil field worker. He told me it was raining
and to get in the car. He told me he works in the rain all the time. He changed the tire, loaded the van back up and was gone before I could say thank you or offer him some money. Jesus has done this for you, he took on your sins and died
in place of you. God raised Jesus up and forgave your sins. This is God’s love for you. Now, reread verse 1 & 2. “There is therefore now no condemnation for those who are in Christ Jesus. 2 For the law of the Spirit
of life has set you free in Christ Jesus from the law of sin and death.” This act is called The Great Exchange. God loves you and he forgives those who have faith.
I pray: O Lord, I
know I have sinned and I repent. I want to do better. Thank you for all that you have done for me. Thank you for your forgiveness and giving me eternal life. I know what I deserve. I give thanks for your love, grace, and mercy.
