Mark 15:1–5 (ESV)
Jesus Delivered to Pilate
15 And as soon as it was morning, the chief priests held a consultation with the elders and scribes and the whole council. And they bound Jesus and led him away and delivered him over to Pilate. 2 And Pilate asked him, “Are you the King of the Jews?” And he answered him, “You have said so.” 3 And the chief priests accused him of many things. 4 And Pilate again asked him, “Have you no answer to make? See how many charges they bring against you.” 5 But Jesus made no further answer, so that Pilate was amazed.

Why did Jesus remain silent?  Well, he is fulfilling prophecy by remaining silent, but there is another deeper meaning to me.  They are putting Jesus on trial so that they can kill him.  The irony is that Jesus came to this world to be killed!  Their actions are fulfilling a bigger prophecy and carrying out Jesus’s plan of salvation.  So, why would he want to say anything,   He knows that all he needs to do is sit back and ride this out to the cross.  That is has been his plan all along.

I pray: O Lord, there are times that I need to learn to be silent.  Help me to be silent when I need to be and to speak when I need to speak.  Let Thy will be done.  Amen.

Look at the Words say they "fell away". The had it, but lost it. Just like the Bible says your name can be blotted out of the Book of Life.
