Mark 13:24–27 (ESV)
The Coming of the Son of Man
24 “But in those days, after that tribulation, the sun will be darkened, and the moon will not give its light, 25 and the stars will be falling from heaven, and the powers in the heavens will be shaken. 26 And then they will see the Son of Man
coming in clouds with great power and glory. 27 And then he will send out the angels and gather his elect from the four winds, from the ends of the earth to the ends of heaven.
This can paint a scarey picture,
the day the sun will be darkened and the moon is dark... and stars will be falling from heaven. I’m often asked whether this should be taken literally or not. Well, I do believe that God is all powerful. I believe in ALL the miracles
in the Bible, such as healing the blind, deaf, and dumb, the lame, bleeding issue, raising the dead, calming the storms, feeding the multitudes, etc... So why would I have a problem taking this literally? I think there will be controlled chaos
at the Second Coming. The world will be in chaos, but Christ will be in control.
In the chaos will be the Gospel. The Gospel is not what you do for God, but what God does for you. I say in the chaos
will be the Gospel because “he will send out the angels and gather his elect from the four winds...” The world may be in chaos, but the believers will know what is going on!
I pray: O
Lord, I look forward to the day you come in the clouds. I pray “Come Lord Jesus, be our guest...” and it is a true invitation to come. Help me to wait patiently for the Second Coming and to cling to the faith you have given me.
Amen.
