Galatians 5:7–15 (ESV)
Christ Has Set Us Free
7 You were running well. Who hindered you from obeying the truth? 8 This persuasion is not from him who calls you. 9 A little leaven leavens the whole lump. 10 I have confidence in the Lord that you will take no other view, and the one who is troubling you will bear the penalty, whoever he is. 11 But if I, brothers, still preach circumcision, why am I still being persecuted? In that case the offense of the cross has been removed. 12 I wish those who unsettle you would emasculate themselves!
13 For you were called to freedom, brothers. Only do not use your freedom as an opportunity for the flesh, but through love serve one another. 14 For the whole law is fulfilled in one word: “You shall love your neighbor as yourself.” 15 But if you bite and devour one another, watch out that you are not consumed by one another.

Verse 7 is talking about your faith as running a race.  You were running well until someone cut you off!  The Judaizers are so called fellow believers who are forcing their ways onto you.  They have hindered you and slowed you down!  The leaven they are feeding you is circumcision.  We have been set free from this legal act.  A little leaven works it’s way through the batch.  I remember a rather earthy example that was given to me by a pastor.  It is gross and I have not forgotten it, but the point was well made.  He asked me if I would drink a nice cold glass of orange juice.  My answer is yes, I love orange juice.  He said ok.  He asked what about if he added ½ a teaspoon of urine to the 8 oz glass of orange juice?  I said no way!  He said it is still mostly orange juice.  I could care less, I am not drinking urine.  His point was why do we go along with teachings from other Christians that is not Biblical?  The right answer is to say I don’t, I will go to church somewhere else.  Too many Christians are attending churches that are selling out on the Bible and they continue to be led by these leaders.  It is like the blind being led by the blind.  Paul is speaking out and against the Judaizers!  The error may seem small and insignificant... but it is still false teachings, or as the pastor’s example to me... it still contains urine.

I pray: O Lord, help me to not be led astray by false teachings.  Help me to study your Word and to know and discern the Truth.  Help me to be bold and to stand up against false teachings and to follow your ways.  Amen.
